9º International Freak and Fantastic Film Festival
The Galician Freaky Film Festival crawls back from the shadows for its 9th unholy resurrection!
Prepare to have your sanity splattered across the silver screen as Vigo transforms into the global epicenter of delirious underground cinema. Nightmares, hallucinations, and unhinged laughter — guaranteed.

Brace yourselves, freaks: the madness is coming.
Luis Barboo Tribute + Conan The Barbarian
As part of the special activities for the 9th edition, we will pay a well-deserved tribute to a singular and little-known figure of Galician cinema and our city: the actor and stuntman Luis Barboo (Vigo, 1927–2001).
With one of the most special sessions of this #9 edition — the screening of what is probably the most representative film within the sword and sorcery subgenre: Conan the Barbarian.
Fantastic Tapas
As an absolute novelty for this edition, the GFFF premieres the first Freak Gastronomic Route, a tapas trail that aims to bring the festival’s freakiness to the streets and bars. From September 18th to 26th, five restaurants in the city will offer a Fantastic Tapa created for the occasion.

Partner Festival
This year, we have the honor of partnering with the TOHorror Fantastic Film Fest (Italy).
The TOHorror Fantastic Film Fest is one of Italy’s most important festivals dedicated to genre cinema. Born in 1999 with the blessing of an exceptional godfather, Dario Argento, it is based in Turin, Italy.
GFFF INDUSTRY: NORTHERN BROTHERHOODS
To continue expanding the connections between festivals and cultural management professionals, this year we will once again celebrate, in collaboration with the VIGO FILM OFFICE, a roundtable featuring representatives of genre festivals from Euskadi, Navarra, Catalonia, and Galicia.
As a complement to the meeting between professionals of the VIGO FILM OFFICE Roundtable: Northern Brotherhoods, we will hold a special screening, for which each of the invited festivals has selected a significant short film from their territory.
GFFF INDUSTRY: WHAT ARE YOU UP TO, FREAK?
Once again, we’re developing this space where we can discover, from the hands of their creators, some of the new Galician projects that are in different phases of development.
The objective with this proposal is to strengthen the festival as a meeting point for professionals in the Galician audiovisual sector, create synergies between the different agents who participate in an audiovisual production, as well as bring our audience closer to the newest Galician audiovisual work that is yet to come.
Exhibition and Fanzine: DOUTOR VIGO
Born from the comic strip contest we launched a few months ago, we are pleased to present the third volume, which brings together some of the comics that participated in the competition.
Fourteen stories that will take us to a Vigo threatened, for better or worse, by a group of mad scientists who are capable of anything to achieve their goal.
Opening

The opening of the 9th edition of the festival will come loaded with experiments gone wrong for all those cinephiles and lovers of old cinema theaters. For this, we will carry out a double session of mad doctors cinema.
In this inaugural session, we will screen two horror comedies to fill the theater with laughter and screams for more than three hours.
Closing

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” redefined the concept of cult film forever.
What began as a modest film adaptation of a 1973 stage musical became one of the most singular cinematic experiences in history. This masterpiece of camp and the musical-horror genre, directed by Jim Sharman and written by Richard O’Brien, revolutionized popular culture by creating a new way of watching cinema: active audience participation.
Pequefreak: My first festival
On September 20th and 21st, “Pequefreak – My first festival” returns with TWO FULL DAYS dedicated to children and young audiences!
A unique event in our region, where the youngest ones can be introduced to the wonderful world of freak cinema and enjoy the experience of living their own film festival.
Corman Night
This year, the festival introduces a new section aimed, on the one hand, to pay tribute to one of the great directors and producers in the history of B-movie cinema, and on the other hand, to introduce a cinema that has been an inspiration to many creators of the new generations.
We’re talking about the cinema of Roger Corman.
GFFF #9 Presentation at Galería Maraca
As tradition dictates, we return to Galería Maraca, the vibrant epicenter of the local underground scene, to warm up the engines for this new edition with an exclusive preview of the GFFF 2025 program, and we’ll enjoy some of the most celebrated short films from last year.

Presentation: ODIO – Fnac
Among our pre-festival activities, we will once again host a literary presentation from our Edgar Allan Freak space in collaboration with FNAC Vialia and Editorial Galaxia.

Zombie Walk
Did you like it? Something to improve?
The GFFF Zombie Walk arrives in Vigo as one of the most anticipated activities of this GFFF edition. What promises to be an unforgettable day will transform the city center into a festive zombie apocalypse, where creativity and terror join forces to create a unique experience.
Sign up for the ZOMBIE RUNWAY where a jury of audiovisual professionals will evaluate creativity, makeup quality, and character interpretation. The best zombie of the night will take home the coveted “Zombie Freak 2025” award, a distinction we promise will be worthy of the best living dead.
Comic Contest
In this ninth edition, mad scientists or mad doctors take center stage. We’ll celebrate with screenings that pay homage to films where scientists obsess over achievements beyond their era’s knowledge, challenging the laws of physics and even God himself. Time to shout skyward: “It’s alive!”
