SALA APO’STROPHE.ARTE – PLAZA ELÍPTICA
Without forgetting that literature is one of the main sources of inspiration for audiovisual and cinematographic creation, in this new edition of the festival we once again bet on this space to weave synergies with authors and publishers of reference in the literary field.
Due to Edgar Allan Poe’s relevance in the fantastic and horror imaginary, we decided in the last edition to baptize this space as Edgar Allan Freak. It is a place for the dissemination and promotion of literature, comics and cinema, always within the genres that fascinate us: fantasy, science fiction and horror.
A meeting point for lovers of genre narratives, where the written word and image join hands.
In this edition, the literary space Edgar Allan Freak will feature the following presentations:
X-Picy 1 and X-Picy 2

Authors Vol. 1: Melania Badosa, H.M. Crespo, Manolo Shaggy, Loor Nicolas, Ángel Zamorano, H. M. Crespo, Gonzalo García, Santiaguete Calderón and Moisés Tolosa.
Authors Vol. 2: Jae Tanaka, Rubi Giráldez, El Hombre Tucán, Sal Donaire, Foxjorch, H. M. Crespo, Wahabo, Santiaguete Calderón, Moisés Tolosa and Aaron Moucho.
Publisher: Contra Culto
About the magazine:
X-picy is an anthology magazine, composed of a compendium of captivating stories, inspired by the essence of old comic magazines combined with current expressions, and which seeks to show the great quantity and quality of art we have in the underground comic scene.
A publication where creative freedom within the frameworks of the proposal, variety of styles and transmitting a more collective vision of making comics becomes our identity seal. It is born from the need to express oneself without commercial filters and through the short story, which is much more accessible both at the production level and to know what might interest readers.
San Meteoro

Author: Josiño Araujo
Publisher: Xerais

Synopsis:
A mole. That was all he asked for. Not a scar, not a birthmark, not even freckles. He wasn’t that ambitious. A simple mole on the cheek, above the upper lip or on the tip of the nose. It didn’t matter. A distinctive sign that would free him from the mediocrity he had been installed in for exactly twenty years”.
On his twentieth birthday, remembered by no one, Pedro, who considers himself the most irrelevant person in the world, laments his insignificance while contemplating his reflection in the mirror. At nightfall, alone on the mountain, smoking marijuana and philosophizing about life at the foot of a chapel, Pedro observes the firmament, sees a shooting star pass by and makes the wish to become someone very relevant. But, what he thought was a star, falls from the sky near him in the form of an enigmatic meteorite that will forever change his life, that of the people around him and even that of the city where he lives.
As he already did with his novel Memorias dun exgalego, Josiño Araújo amazes us again, now with San Meteoro, an original story, with cinematic rhythm and full of humor. As is characteristic of the author, a satire of profound lightness with a thrilling ending.
Author’s bio:
Josiño Araújo Pérez (Vigo, 1986) studied Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela and at the University of Barcelona, and Audiovisual Production at the I.E.S. Audiovisual de Vigo.
Currently he practices his profession as a lawyer in Vigo, combining it with his activity as a film producer and distributor.
He was a collaborator in different digital and analog media (A Nova Peneira, Atlántico Diario, Europa FM and La Marea, under pseudonym), directed several short films and music videos, and was awarded for some of his stories.
San Meteoro is his second novel, after the acclaimed Memorias dun exgalego.
