The Galician Freaky Film Festival (GFFF) is not just a showcase of fantastic and horror cinema. It is also a professional platform that drives the Galician audiovisual sector and builds bridges between creators, production companies, institutions, and cultural professionals.

A professional meeting space

Our GFFF Industry section has become, year after year, a fundamental convergence point for the Galician audiovisual industry. It develops a comprehensive program of specialized activities ranging from international pitch competitions to panel discussions on financing and strategic collaborations between festivals.

Specialized activities

Freak Pitch: International Competition for Short Films in Development

Our flagship professional initiative has evolved into Freak Pitch, an international pitch competition dedicated to freak and fantastic short film projects in development. This competitive platform enables creators from around the world to present their projects to industry professionals, compete for cash prizes, and establish valuable connections within the international genre circuit.

Freak Pitch features two categories: an international open call and a dedicated Galician category, reinforcing our commitment to both global genre cinema and local audiovisual talent. Selected finalists defend their projects before a professional jury during the festival, with winners receiving monetary awards and priority consideration for future festival selections.

Round tables and professional debates

We organize specialized meetings that address the most relevant topics for the sector:

  • Creative processes: Engaging in discussions with key sector representatives, such as Alberto Vázquez, to analyze the processes of creation, production, and distribution in depth.
  • Public financing: Training sessions on how to access the main available funding lines (AGADIC, ICAA, Creative Europe MEDIA) and how to structure viable audiovisual projects.

Festival network: “Brotherhoods of the North”

In collaboration with Vigo Film Office, we promote meetings between genre festivals from different regions (Euskadi, Navarra, Catalunya, and Galicia). These sessions enable the sharing of experiences, analysis of the health of genre cinema in Spain, and the establishment of collaborations between programming teams.

Institutional support

Our industry activities receive the support of specialized institutions, such as the Vigo Film Office, which offers facilities to production companies that choose Galicia as a filming location, as well as resources for the local development of the audiovisual sector.

Commitment to local talent

GFFF Industry has as a priority objective:

  • Making audiovisual talent visible in all its development phases
  • Facilitating access to financing resources and specialized training
  • Creating networking spaces between sector professionals
  • Establishing collaboration bridges with other festivals and cultural entities
  • Promoting Galician audiovisual production within the framework of fantastic and genre cinema

Through this professional section, GFFF establishes itself not only as a reference festival in the field of fantastic cinema but also as an active platform for the growth and professionalization of the Galician audiovisual sector.
