The GFFF is committed to creating and displaying Galician subtitles for ALL foreign short films, which makes us the only festival in the world to undertake this work of visibility and promotion of our language. With more than 400 short films subtitled in Galician and counting, we are actively expanding access to international cinema for Galician audiences while championing language diversity across Europe. As the leading film festival producing Galician subtitles in the film industry, we are breaking barriers and ensuring our language thrives in contemporary cultural spaces.
This commitment extends beyond our festival screenings. In 2020, our team partnered with Festhome to make their platform available in Galician. A collaboration that represents another significant milestone in normalizing our language within the international film festival infrastructure.

Distribution
One of the core initiatives undertaken by our programming and subtitling team in recent years is the translation, synchronization, and subtitling of foreign shorts that do not yet have Spanish or Galician subtitles available.
Our team has created Spanish subtitles for national distribution of several acclaimed nominated shorts, including Third Kind by Yorgos Zois, High Dating by Jules Zingg, První akční hrdina by Jan Haluza, and Hideous by Yann Gonzalez, facilitating broader access to exceptional international cinema throughout Spain.
